NEW CAMERAAAAA

my work money (along with my parent's money) has not only bought a macbook BUT THE CANON 5D MARK II CAN I GET A WOOP WOOP.

it's actually incredibly similar to the 40d, perhaps since they were made the same year. it's funny because it's my new camera yet the model is four years old. whatever, it's an amazing camera and almost everyone has it - so there must be a good reason, right?

seriously, the viewfinder is like seeing a whole knew world. the 50mm is almost...wider on it. probably because it is a full frame camera. it's glorious. and i can take photos IN. FOCUS. it's been almost a year of pain, i feel like i'm jasmine in aladdin and i'm seeing a whole new world man.

it came right before i had work and literally everyone is gone and off to college (i move in sunday?!?). so i take pictures of my dog. naturally.

yaaaaaah. i feel like i'm alive again. haha. dramatic, but yes. ugh, and i'm also moving to nyc in three days? and my welcome week is full of adventurous things. i can't wait. (also, i don't know if i should bring my camera to all these events....should i socialize or be that kid with the camera - ya know.)

i went to NYC for a MICA reception and portfolio review. the focus of my 1.4 is still troubling me, although i have narrowed the problem down to my camera. alas. Photobucket always be takin' pix of cute children.

our school's asian american club decided to put on a show, inspired by the indian culture club's successful show ever year. it was incredibly cute and although it was done on a much smaller scale - i enjoyed myself nevertheless.

christmas to me

Photobucket ever since i can remember, christmas to me has never been a religious holiday. coming from a non-religious family, i didn't have to go to church or do other religious shenangins my classmates did. there is a bit of a buddhist flair in some of my parent's teaching, but i think that's more cultural than religious.

that's why i get confused when someone once asked: wait, if you're not religious why do you celebrate christmas? the answer is simple, i believe christmas has transformed into a cultural holiday over the ages. (i think there's a more sophisticated response [ like the true origin of the tree ], but this is just my personal view.) the cookies, the milk, the warm fire, the bright lights, the presents.....don't have anything to do with any religion. christmas to me is waking up at 8am to open presents, it's decorating the tree with lights and do-dads, it's walking down the street and seeing dangling lights in the distance, it's listening to christmas songs on the radio as the streetlamps vroom past the iced car window, it's drinking hot chocolate and laughing with family, it's eating great food with family, it's just a time where things are honestly just "jolly" and happy.
